Enabling patients to continue their therapy at home: Fresenius Kabi supports the World Home Artificial Nutrition Day

October 14, 2020

Fresenius Kabi is committed to improving the quality of life of patients around the globe and taking care of their specific needs. In line with the company’s philosophy of caring for life, Fresenius Kabi supports home artificial nutrition as an important extra-hospital therapy form that enables affected patients to receive treatment in the comfort of their own home.

In that regard, the World Home Artificial Nutrition (HAN) Day is taking place for the fourth time, on October 15th, 2020. Fresenius Kabi supports this awareness day by sharing some inspiring stories of patients living on home artificial nutrition.

The home artificial nutrition term includes both home parenteral nutrition (HPN), indicating that the patient needs nutrition administered intravenously and bypassing usual digestion, and home enteral nutrition (HEN), nutrition given through a tube directly into the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, at their respective homes.

The real experiences and insights from patients living on home artificial nutrition show their daily and weekly routines and also offer advice to new patients starting the therapy. Fresenius Kabi is honored to share these stories of living on home artificial nutrition to inspire other patients starting or continuing the therapy. They also show that, in order to be part of a successful therapy, nutritional homecare requires a multi-team approach focused on the needs of the patients and caregivers.

World HAN Day was established by PACIFHAN, the International Alliance of Patient Organizations for Chronic Intestinal Failure and Home Artificial Nutrition.
