Fresenius Kabi Germany supports Queen Silvia Nursing Award

Fresenius Kabi Germany supports the Queen Silvia Nursing Award for the seventh consecutive time since the award was brought into life in 2013. The annual prize was once again handed over by Queen Silvia of Sweden and this time to the German nursing student Annette Löser for her invention of a hygiene hatch which is installed below the patient’s bed. The festive ceremony took place at a nursing facility in Lohne-Kroge, Germany.

The Queen Silvia Nursing Award is a scholarship for nursing students in Sweden, Finland, Poland and Germany and is endowed with 6000 Euro. It was founded in 2013 as a gift to Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden for her 70th birthday. Swedish Care International and Forum for Elderly Care started the scholarship with the intention and purpose to increase awareness of and focus on good care of elderly and dementia patients. The objective of the award is to encourage young talents with innovative ideas within the field of care.

Fresenius Kabi supports the award to honor outstanding care achievements following the company’s philosophy of “caring for life”. Dagmar Scherrer from the management of Fresenius Kabi Germany and Head of FresuCare Services, participated at the event and held a speech in which she highlighted the importance of supporting young professionals in the care sector: “Annette Löser’s invention is an excellent example of how young talents can contribute to improve care when they are supported adequately. Finding ways to motivate and encourage nursing students to become and stay involved with long-term care is a crucial factor for the demands of our future society,” she continued, “which is why this award is so relevant. We at Fresenius Kabi are glad to contribute to this process.”
