Fresenius Kabi Germany supports the “wish van” project with Christmas donation

This year, Fresenius Kabi Germany’s traditional €20,000 Christmas donation goes to the project “wish van” – fulfilling last wishes (“Wünschewagen” – Letzte Wünsche wagen) of the German Federation of Samaritan Workers (Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund). Trained volunteers fulfill a heart's desire of severely ill people of all ages, whose realization wouldn’t be possible without the volunteer’s assistance. Towards the end of someone’s life, unfulfilled dreams often shift to the foreground. However, seriously ill people, in particular, are often no longer able to travel or catch up with friends who are important to them.

The “wish van” is an ambulance with emergency medical equipment. All-round windows providing a panoramic view of the surroundings are just as much a part of the wish van as the harmonious overall concept of light and colors, focusing on a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere for the passenger and his or her companion.

“The wish van focuses on severely ill people and their relatives,” says Frank Simon, Senior Vice President Finance, IT and Customer Service at Fresenius Kabi Germany, at the check handover in Bad Homburg, Germany. “We are greatly touched by the volunteers’ commitment and efforts to bring joy to the people concerned.”

The nationwide project benefits from a wide network of hospices, associations, self-help groups, and palliative care specialists.
